Overview
It is wise to periodically review the ASHA Code of Ethics and integrate its principles into practice. One goal of the session is to review the four Principles of the 2016 Code of Ethics and the associated rules. In addition, the presenter will describe the function of the Board of Ethics in some detail including how potential violations are handled and the sanctions that may be applied. The relationship between the ASHA Board of Ethics and state licensure boards will also be discussed. Throughout the session examples of ethical dilemmas will be provided with guidance on how the Board of Ethics might handle those cases. The focus will be on the most common ethical violations.
