For too long, the approach to Auditory Processing Disorder has been passive—a cycle of "diagnose and adios" that leaves individuals and families with a label but no clear path forward. Meanwhile, countless children and adults struggle silently, their challenges flying completely under the radar because they simply don't know what to look for, or where to turn. It’s time to change the narrative. This dynamic, practical session is designed to strip away the confusion surrounding APD and equip you with the exact tools you need to make a tangible difference. You will walk away knowing how to recognize the often-hidden signs of APD across the lifespan, why timely intervention is a game-changer, and exactly how to connect people to the right support.

Wednesday October 28, 2026

Diagnosing Auditory Processing Disorder is only the first step; the real magic happens when we move from analysis to action. When dealing with complex pediatric case histories—including children navigating the fallout of chronic middle ear disorders—a single profession cannot do it alone. True transformation requires a seamless, tag-team approach between Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. We must choose collaboration over competition. In this heavily management-focused session, we bridge the gap between diagnostic metrics and daily, real-world remediation. Joining the presentation is Dr. Nancy Datino, a dual-certified audiologist and SLP, to illustrate how the two fields can blend their unique professional strengths to maximize patient outcomes. Together, we will dissect complex pediatric profiles, explore the profound impact of early middle ear history on auditory development, and demonstrate exactly what targeted, effective therapy looks like in action.

Wednesday, November 4, 2026

For decades, historical misunderstandings about diagnostic criteria, auditory "trainability," and rigid scopes of practice have forced audiologists and speech-language pathologists into isolated silos. The past of auditory processing created barriers when it should have been building bridges. When clinicians spend energy defending academic turf or debating competing schools of thought, the patient loses. It is time to challenge the past to build a brighter, unified future. This high-impact, myth-busting session is designed to dismantle the controversies that have historically divided our professions. We will look objectively at the different clinical approaches to APD, finding common ground so we can meet any patient exactly where they are. By replacing territorialism with evidence-based collaboration, you will walk away with practical strategies to seamlessly bridge the gap between a test score and improving lives.

Learning Objectives:

Participants Will:

Tuesday, October 20, 2026

  1. Identify adults in their practice or community who exhibit the key warning signs of Auditory Processing Disorder and need a formal AP evaluation.
  2. Recognize children in their practice or community exhibit the key warning signs of Auditory Processing Disorder and need a formal AP evaluation.
  3. Direct and refer patients to specialized care using verified clinician networks.

Wednesday, October 28, 2026

  1. Describe the clinical profile of complex pediatric patients, particularly those with histories of chronic middle ear disorders—who require targeted auditory processing remediation.
  2. Formulate a collaborative, non-competitive care plan that effectively blends the unique professional strengths of both the Audiologist and the Speech-Language Pathologist.
  3. Identify and connect with specialized professionals in their local area to build a trusted interdisciplinary referral and treatment network.

Wednesday, November 4, 2026

  1. Describe two specific tests that can be successfully utilized to evaluate auditory processing in children under seven years old.
  2. List two specific tests that can be used to accurately assess auditory processing abilities in individuals with peripheral hearing loss.
  3. Justify the clinical necessity of treating diverse populations (such as the very young, the elderly, and the neurodivergent) who are typically not supported or are overlooked within traditional diagnostic frameworks.
