This 4- part series will provide an overview of the following AAC applications: Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, GoTalk Now, and TD Snap. Basic programming will be reviewed, and key characteristics of each application will be discussed. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will develop a greater understanding of each application, which is beneficial in feature matching for students’ communication use and therapeutic intervention practices.

Alessandra Barragato is a Speech and Language Pathologist for Nassau BOCES and has been providing therapy to children and young adults for over 20 years. Her current role as Augmentative and Alternative Communication Evaluator and Trainer has enabled her to work with school and home educational teams across school districts in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Alessandra has been a continuing education instructor for over 10 years and is currently teaching for One Step Ahead Professional Development, Long Island Institute of Professional Studies, and Nassau Tract.

Jennifer Johnson has worked as an SLP since December 2000. For 22 years, Jennifer provided evaluations and therapies to students aged 10-21, with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex communication needs, including many AAC users, at the Nassau BOCES Rosemary Kennedy School located in Wantagh, New York. Jennifer is currently a member of the Nassau BOCES AAC Evaluation and Training Team, providing AAC evaluations to students in all school districts across Nassau County who need an augmentative or alternative method for communication, and training in the implementation of AAC systems to school district staff members and parents. Jennifer also works as an independent contractor at North Shore Speech-Language Associates under the directorship of Paula Okin since January 2021 providing therapy in private home settings, and privately through her own personal practice. Jennifer recently received her School Building and School District Leadership certifications through The College of Saint Rose CITE Program.
