Presenters

John Vacchio is a nurse educator at Winthrop University Hospital emergency department. He possesses a current NYS License as a Registered Nurse. John received his Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Molloy College and is certified as an EMTP. He possesses strong leadership and communication skills and has outstanding theoretical and clinical knowledge. He combines his clinical expertise and passion for teaching to prepare and mentor current and future generations of nurses. John is a critical thinker and problem solver who places strong emphasis on use of technology in education. He is an American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver Instructor.

Don Wang is operations manager at the Winthrop University Hospital Simulation Center and the Community Training Center. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. In his early career path, Don combined his love for healthcare and education to serve as Poison Control Educator for the Long Island Regional Poison and Drug Information Center. His current role as operations manager at the Winthrop Simulation Center and Community Training Center affords him the opportunity to galvanize the learning experience for healthcare providers using advanced technology. He is an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver Instructor whose passion is helping learners progress from conquering didactics to connecting the dots that empower them to master skills which may one day help to save lives.

All participants upon completion of the course and competent performance of CPR & AED techniques will receive a two year CPR & AED certification card by mail.
